The Stand Together trial brings together many collaborators from institutions across the UK. Our team members are from Bangor University (the trial sponsor), University of Oxford, University of Exeter and University of Warwick. The trial is being managed by the Centre for Trials Research at Cardiff University.
The co-applicants include: Prof Judy Hutchings, Dr Suzy Clarkson, Prof Rhiannon Tudor Edwards, Dr Joanna Charles (Bangor University), AProf Lucy Bowes (University of Oxford), Prof Richard Hastings (University of Warwick), Prof Tamsin Ford, Dr Rachel Hayes (University of Exeter), Dr Julia Townson, Dr Elinor Coulman, Dr Rebecca Cannings-John, Dr Jeremy Segrott, Dr Fiona Lugg Widger (Cardiff University),  Dr Richard Watkins (GwE) and Dr Paul Patterson (Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust).

Professor Judy Hutchings
​Co-chief investigator and trial lead for Bangor University 
Judy was an NHS Consultant Clinical Psychologist in North West Wales for 37 years with responsibility for services for children with behavioural problems. Since 1988 she held a joint appointment with Bangor University where she is the Director of the Centre for Evidence Based Early Intervention. Judy introduced the KiVa antibullying programme to Wales in 2012 and undertook pilot work on it prior to obtaining the NIHR funding for the Stand Together trial.
Dr Suzy Clarkson
​Research associate 

Suzy works at the Centre for Evidence Based Early Intervention, Bangor University, where she evaluated implementation of KiVa in the UK for her PhD thesis. Suzy coordinated the work on the successful NIHR grant application and is the lead research officer for the Stand Together trial at the North Wales site. She has over seven years' experience in evaluating the implementation of KiVa in the UK.

Associate Professor Lucy Bowes
Co-chief investigator and trial lead for Oxford

Lucy Bowes is an Associate Professor  and has conducted extensive research focused on school bullying and the impact it has on young people's mental health.

Dr Julia Badger
Senior research associate

​
Julia is a Child Development Researcher. Her work focuses on identifying and addressing socio-emotional, behavioural or academic factors preventing children from​ achieving their potential at school. She is the Senior Researcher both at the University of Oxford and the University of Warwick sites of the Stand Together trial..  
 The Exeter Team (Devonshire schools)

Dr Rachel Hayes
Senior research fellow 

Rachel has spent over 20 years working in psychological research, initially exploring cognitive developmental psychology and more recently mental health. She now works in the Child Mental Health Group at the College of Health and Medicine running a number of research trials with the aim of improving the mental health and lives of children and young people. ​Rachel has over 8 years experience managing large trials of complex interventions to support the mental health of both children and adults. ​
The Warwick Team (Birmingham schools)

Professor Richard Hastings
Trial lead for Birmingham

​Richard is a Professor of family research at Warwick University. His work focuses on child intellectual and developmental disabilities (including autism), especially mental health, family research, challenging behaviour, forensic issues, special educational needs, intervention/treatment studies and early intervention. Along with Catherine, Richard is working with Birmingham Education Partnership in the Stand Together trial.

Julia Badger
​Senior Research Associate

​Elinor is the senior trial manager and research associate at the Centre for Trials Research. Her job as the Stand Together trial manager is to coordinate the general running of the project across all the sites to ensure it runs smoothly.
